Negotiating at work

Whether you like it or not, you negotiate nearly every day at work. That is because you are constantly communicating with other people. Sadly, I often see many disappointed, angry, defensive and burnt out people today. I believe that if these people could become better negotiators, they would be able to clearly communicate their needs, achieve their goals, and feel more satisfied at work.

Do you want to know one of the best secrets I have learnt about good negotiating? Get to know the person who you are negotiating with. Find out the things that matter to them and have a genuine desire to meet their needs. It could be as simple as asking them, “Why is this important to you?”

By meeting another person’s needs, you are able to build mutual respect, which is essential to achieving your own goals.

I have put down some ideas about negotiating at work into my free Practice Guide. Warning – This Practice Guide could change your life!
